The Post Office commercialization process commenced on January 24, 1997. At that time all Policy-making
decisions were passed to a seven-member Board of Directors.

Prior to January 24, 1997

• All major decisions were made by the Ministry of Communications and Works.
• Annual expenditures were part of Grenada's National Budget.

Traditional revenue streams then were:

• Stamp sales
• Express Mail
• Registered Mail
• Parcels and Packets
• Commissions on Postal and Money Orders
• Private Letterboxes
• Philately

According to the Act establishing the Grenada Postal Corporation, the Corporation:

• Has exclusive right to provide postal services throughout Grenada.
• May provide limited banking services.
• Has the exclusive right to permit and sell stamps in Grenada.
• Has the exclusive right to rent or lease post boxes.

According to the Act establishing the Grenada Postal Corporation, the Corporation:
